What's Gold Vermeil?
Vermeil, also known as “silver gilt”, refers to high quality (pure or sterling) silver that is plated with a thin layer of gold. Most vermeil jewelry available now is created by electroplating the silver with gold, a chemical process that uses an electrical current to bind the two metals together. Gold Vermeil will wear off because it is plated . We also have a 925 Sterling Silver option. If Gold Plating wearing off is an issue for you, please do not purchase this item. The Speed at which a piece fades depends on your body chemistry, climate, as well as the frequency it is worn.
Care Instructions:
- To prolong the lifespan of your gold-filled jewelry, avoid wearing it while washing hands, showering, applying lotion, using harsh cleaning supplies, or during workouts.
- Clean the necklace by gently buffing it with a soft, dry 100% cotton cloth or a microfiber cloth. Do not use jewelry cleaner on gold-filled jewelry.
